Flower care

How can you avoid the clogging of dosing pumps?

Florists and supermarkets use flower care products, such as Chrysal Professional 2, to increase the water absorption of flowers. Dosing pumps, like the Chrysal Dosing Unit helps with the correct dosing, which is vital for conditioning flowers. If a non-clear (turbid solution with sediments) product is mixed with water, a sediment appears in some dosing pumps in which some mixture is left. Particularly if these pumps have not been used for a day or longer, like at the weekend, an anaerobic fermentation process begins in this standing mixture in the closed pump. A rotten-egg odour could be created, which is released with the first use in the morning until the pump has been thoroughly purged; so how can this be prevented?

1. Use products that have the addition ‘Clear’ on the label
2. Regularly clean the dosing pumps, at least once a month and in case of hard water and intensive use, every week. Use a product for this that dissolves limescale deposits and whose leftover solutions in the dosing pump do not harm flowers, for example Chrysal Professional Cleaner
3. If a solution of Chrysal Professional Cleaner is prepared in the dosing pump, this can also be used for cleaning containers and vases at the same time.
4. Use hoses that are made of acid-resistant materials (e.g. EPDM)
